My interests in science and art are reflected in my love of natural objects (pine cones, seaweed, etc.). I recently began doing pencil and gouache portraits for friends and family, which I really enjoy. Creating something so filled with fun and meaning for people is very satisfying. Combining realistic portraits with more whimsical bodies and backgrounds allows me to represent more of the subject's personality. In other words, to create more than just a good likeness. I live and work in Laguna Beach with my husband and twin boys.
I hold a geology degree from Smith College (1987) and painting degree from Boston University(1990). Since then, I've worked as a geologist, a scientific illustrator and a graphic designer, as well as painted in my spare time.
